Clay Model Mouse
For this project, we were tasked with creating a model figure of something that can be hand held. Naturally, I went with a computer mouse as it is something I interface with daily. For the model I began with an idea for an ergonomic shape. I cut it out of urethane foam in the shape of a cup. Once the foam hardened, the foam was cut down to a profile similar to the mouse. Notches on the side were made to give a more ergonomic feel. Clay was added as the final skin layer, and was shaped down using a variety of tools. The final product was passed over with a damp towel to give a smooth, clean appearance.
